Discover Nepal! The land of mysticism. These are a collection of Damian Christopher’s visits to Nepal over the years. The Nepal Earthquake destroyed much of what you have seen here, but nonetheless, Nepal stands firm. For his book, Shangri-La, Damian Christopher wanted to portray the fact that Nepal has become commensurate with a mythical Himalayan kingdom--a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world as described by James Hilton in Los Horizon.

On my expedition, I felt a tremendous sense of clarity. An awareness that I was in a moment of divine intervention, an unaccountable, quiet excitement started coursing through me that suggested something pretty remarkable was taking place in my life.

Shangri-La has become commensurate with any earthly paradise, but particularly a mythical Himalayan kingdom--a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world as described by James Hilton in his famous novel Los Horizon.
Over the course of 4 days, I escaped the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and embarked on a trek through the cultural and geographic frontier of Nepal. This remote area contained no roads, sparse electricity, and no running water.
On the first day, our Sherpas (guides) led us to a mountain ledge that overlooked what ancient Tibetan scriptures refer to as a sacred place-- the legendary realms of Annapurna and Sagarmatha. Even though they had stood there many times, they were still awed.

There is something about a tight portrait that can reveal so much about a person. I especially pay attention to a person's eyes as they truly are the windows into their soul.
I have had the privilege to travel all over the world and capture amazing moments in time in cities such Dubai, Kathmandu, Chicago, LA, Rome, Barcelona, Malta, Kusadasi, Rio, Buenos Aires, and many more. My eye is always on the look out for that unexpected angle or that out an place intersection between light and depth that makes a unique photos.
I fell in love with Dubai, one of the most magical places on Earth, on my first visit. The architecture, the technology, the people, and the Persian Gulf have entranced me and it is a place that I will never forget.
I was lucky enough to have my camera with me and was able to take some pretty cool photographs from different vantage points in the city. The Burj Khalifa, a remarkable piece of modern art in iteself, the Burj Al Arab, Media City, the Atlantis Resort, the Palm Jumeria--I could go on and on.

I love shooting in black and white. It gives a sense of time, place, and often mystery. I love old black and white films and television shows and hope to someday make a black and white film of my own.
There's something really appealing about the simplicity of black-and-white images.

This series was inspired by darkness. I love the way that light and darkness sometimes clash violently, resulting in nothing less than an extraordinary image with contrasts somewhere between hope and despair.
However, without light, everything would be cast in eternal shades of blackness.
I love capturing beautiful sunsets, sunrises, mountains, the sea, and other landscapes from all over the world. Here are just a few of my favorites. Enjoy!
